In the WSA, Feedback refers to a form that you put on the site to get information from your users... registration forms and user polls and surveys are the most common.
There are a few things to remember when using forms, especially if you are creating new ones or making changes to the ones that are there.
Basically, a form is a list of questions. Even if it's not grammatically a question, the WSA considers every input field on a form a question because you are asking your users to put something there.
•••Always use the questions that have already been created if at all possible. For example, if you want to get the user's email address, don't create a new question for email address. Use the one that is already there. |
There are five basic feedback types:
- Visitor Data - These forms are for collecting and maintaining user contact information (name, street address, phone number, email address, etc). If you find the need to ever delete any feedback forms, you'll find that you cannot delete forms that provide Visitor Data.
- Other Data - These forms are for gathering non-user-specific information, such as meeting times and dates, event data, etc.
- Poll or Survey - These are a special type of form that allows users to provide feedback usually on one specific question (example: Are you a Republican or Democrat?). When the user answers the question and clicks submit, a small window will pop up providing the total number of responses for each answer.
- Email Web Link - This form allows your users to send a link to your website to their friends via email. You should never have to create this form. Instead, use the page that is already created called "Email Site to a Friend".
- Email Data - These forms allow users to request data be emailed to them (example: forgotten password, meeting registration confirmations, etc.).
